What is Botox®?

Botox® is one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available, helping people smooth some of their most prominent facial wrinkles and fine lines for months at a time. The treatment is safe and works by interfering with the nerve signals causing unintentional muscle movements.

The key ingredient in Botox®, botulinum toxin, affects the targeted muscles causing dynamic wrinkles. These are wrinkles that form and deepen when you make facial expressions and speak. By stopping these muscles from flexing, you also stop the wrinkles from showing up.

How long will my Botox® results last?

Both Botox® and Xeomin® last for about three to four months before your body fully absorbs them. Fortunately, repeat injections generally also last three to four months. You can get ongoing, repeated Botox® or Xeomin® injections to maintain their effect.

Am I a good candidate for Botox® injections?

Before you get Botox® or Xeomin® injections, you need to come in for a consultation at Clear Skin Dermatology. Your provider will review your medical history, current health, and other factors to make sure you’ll tolerate the injections well. We may be able to perform your first treatment at your consultation appointment.

Great candidates for Botox® or Xeomin® are:

• Ages 18 to 65
• Generally healthy
• Not pregnant or breastfeeding

It’s also important that you get the injections for yourself and not to match someone else’s standard for your beauty. You should have realistic expectations and a generally positive outlook.
